Worship Arts

Steward of Worship & the Arts

Minister Dijon Devaul

Throughout the scriptures there is a place for the authentic worship of God.  In fact, Jesus' message to a Samaritan woman teaches God has a high demand on worship.  Jesus said, "God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24)  It is our belief that worship is much more than singing (Psalm 96), dancing (Psalm 30:11;Psalm 149:3), instruments (Psalm 150) and making a joyful noise before the Lord (Psalm 100).  While all of those things accompany us as we join in concert to praise God, we believe worship is a lifestyle of a believer wholistically presenting themselves to the Lord for His service.  Paul speaks of this in Romans 12:1 as "reasonable service".  As we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, it is our belief that worshipping God in spirit and in truth will create an atmosphere that brings conviction, encourages consecration, and merits community praise to the God the Father because of God the Son.

The Worship Arts Department is responsible for presenting themselves before the Lord first, with respect to their bodies, minds, and hearts.  As in the days of old, the praise & worship teams serve as a type of "Levitical"role with reference to leading the congregation in praise to God.  Through their ministry in song the praise team, choirs, and other members of the WAD seek to minister in a way that's as simple as E. I. E. I. O by:

ENCOURAGING saints of God to lift their hands in total adoration to God (Psalm 134:1-3)

INVITING others to sing out to the Lord as one body of baptized believers (Psalm 34:1-3)

EVANGELIZING to the lost as Jesus is lifted up (Acts 2:43-47)

INSPIRING hearts to openly worship and love on God (Luke 7:37-38)

OFFERRING up the fruit of our lips in the atmosphere (Hebrews 13:13-16)

The Worship Arts Department consist of both youth and adults who seek to minister in this age using their gifts through one of the following ways:

  • Praise Team
  • Choir
  • Praise Dance (girls & young females)
  • Mime (boys & young males)
  • And more as inspired by the Holy Spirit and the word of God
